Newsflash: Dog Bites Man

Lieberman’s technical staff were incompetent boobs.

The campaign hosted its site on a “shared” server with over 70 other sites, when it should have had its own machine, skeptical observers have charged; the level of traffic the site could receive was capped, so heavy traffic would allegedly shut it down; some said the software used by the consultants was nonstandard and indicitave of less-than-expert personnel; others faulted the campaign’s dependence on companies which were not large, established organizations.

I think that there are several thoughts to carry away from this:

1. Why not hire better people? Is this the sort of technical staff a campaign gets on the recommendation of the DNC? Holy shit, no wonder we’ve been losing.

2. The Net is going to be the Direct Mail of the 2006 and 2008 elections. Jane Hamsher/Kos/the NetRoots are the Richard Vigueri of the current election cycle. Let Lieberman’s loss be a lesson for everyone in this.

3. This is further illustration of Hanlon’s Razor in action: “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”

Lieberman looks ever more flatfooted in all of this. What a tragic and unfunny joke.

ok, maybe it’s a little funny.

Add in that he apparently had $2mil in the bank at the end. I imagine Patrick and Eponymous would have swallowed their pride and set up a solid site for a small percentage of that.
